My classes teach the key principles of Pilates through movement patterns and combine equipment and mat exercises. The classes teach you to be in control of your body, allowing you to handle stress more effectively and achieve relaxation more easily.
Whether your goal is weight loss, improving your sports performance, optimising your families health or just to have a better understanding, I can give you the tools to achieve and maintain a healthy relationship with food and understand how to build healthy and sustainable habits.
I offer 1-2-1 and small group sessions in our brand-new purpose-built space in a quiet residential area of Broughty Ferry. These sessions are a great way to get started with Pilates, develop and progress or give you a highly tailored session at a time that suits you.
A little history
OnCore Pilates is owned and run by me, Pauline Thomson, and was founded in 2019. The studio is a brand-new purpose-built space in a quiet residential area of Broughty Ferry
I worked as an NHS General Practitioner for around 12 years, having trained in hospital medicine for several years before this. While many aspects of being a doctor, researcher and medical teacher were rewarding and worthwhile, I stepped back from this busy and demanding job to focus on looking after my young family.
I have always had a strong interest in health, fitness, Pilates and nutrition. Over the past decade I have devoted time and energy to apply these principles to our modern family life.
My previous work in General Practice has led me to understand the huge impact that lifestyle can have on our health and wellness. It has also highlighted to me that, with the correct knowledge and support, there are so many things we can do to improve our wellbeing so that we can function at our very best, living life to its fullest.
A little about me
With that in mind, I trained in 2018 to become a Body Control Pilates teacher. I have gone on to undertake further training and will continue my learning into studio equipment and reformer this year. I will complete my Level 4 Active IQ Nutrition certification in May 2020.
I have an interest in performance sport and work closely with the elite figure skaters at Dundee Ice Arena, providing support and Pilates coaching to several Team GB athletes and future Olympic hopefuls with elite local training squad, Ice Dundee. I also teach weekly pilates classes at ISE, University of Dundee, both on the regular timetable and the active living over 65s timetable.
I am also keen on personal fitness and have completed several half marathons. I understand the impact Pilates and optimal nutrition can have on your sports performance, whatever your goals are.
I am a busy mum of three fit and active children. I have over a decade of first-hand experience of feeding a family for fun and for sports training. I understand the pressures on family life and the tweaks you can make to improve health for everyone.
Using my Pilates and nutrition knowledge, I will equip you to improve you, and your family’s, health and wellbeing.
